PEACE WALK 2024 Arrives in Philadelphia.

6p.m. Join us for what  promises to be an evening of enlightenment and community enrichment at Friends Center, 1501 Cherry St, Philadelphia, PA 19102. Partake in  potluck supper, followed by a thought- provoking lecture by the esteemed George Lakey, and a special music performance by the talented Justice Seekers – celebration of “A Piece of the Peace”. George Russell Lakey, activist, sociologist, and distinguished writer, has made a life-long significant contributions to the concept of nonviolent revolution. He is renowned for his work in developing the practice of experiential training for activists, which he refers to as “Direct Education”

Saturday, June 15, Veterans for Peace PEACE WALK ’24 Resumes…Direct Action  Starting at 9:00 AM
⎯ Day & Zimmerman, war contractor, 1500 Spring Garden St, Philadelphia PA, 9:00 AM Day & Zimmerman are makers of weapons of war. Many of their products are sold to countries that the US arms, including Israel.
Their website says:
“Day & Zimmermann is a century-old, family-owned company specializing in construction & engineering, operations & maintenance, staffing, security and defense for leading corporations and governments around the world.”
At the office of Day & Zimmerman we demand they get out of the war business and stick to less deadly pursuits. Some of the current products are
– Explosives: LX-04, 10, 14, 17, Castable PBX’s, Comp A3 & A5, Comp B & H6, PAX-2A, 3, 30, 42, PBXN-5, 9, 11, HNS, TNT, Octal, HTA3
– Bomb, shells and missilesHellfire, Longbow, Javelin, TOW 2A and 2B, Sidewinder, Tank Warheads, Viper, Mongoose, WAM, GSTAMIDS, M982 Excalibur.

Divest from Israel Bonds, 1511 Walnut St Suite 301, Philadelphia, PA 10:00 AM, Israel Bonds, (Development Corporation for Israel), are a direct investment in the State of Israel. The bonds have been backed by the Israeli government, since 1951. The Bonds help fund the Israeli economy. State and local treasuries across the U.S. invest hundreds of millions in the state of Israel this way. A record setting $2 billion in sales was made in 2023 with $1 billion raised since Oct. 7th while Israel has bombed hospitals and laid waste to infrastructure in Gaza.We will encourage Pennsylvania to divest until Israel agrees to end the Occupation of Palestine. Under Stacy Garrity, the Pennsylvania Treasury Department invested $20 million in 2023.

⎯ Sendoff event & action: Phila. Naval Shipyard –Merchants of Death tour. – 11:30 AM Offices of these U.S. weapons profiteers are at the Phila. Naval Yard: 1 – Advance Integrated Technologies, 2 – American Systems Corporation, 3 – AMSEC/HII,  4 – Continental Tide Defense Systems, Inc. 5 – GBS Group, 6 – Naval Surface Warfare Center, Philadelphia Division (NSWCPD), 7 – NOBLIS MSD (Formerly McKean Defense), 8 – Northrop Grumman Corporation, 9 – Paramount Enterprises International, 10 – Peraton.

Walkers will point them out and deliver Cease & Desist Orders to stop making weapons of war in a“Merchants of Death Tour” around the Yard before resuming the Peace Walk walk out of Philadelphia to Delaware County
