Art Laffin is a member of the Dorothy Day Catholic Worker in Washington, D.C., where he lives with his wife and son. The Dorothy Day Catholic Worker offers hospitality to formerly homeless families, serves the poor of Washington, and is actively involved in promoting Gospel nonviolence and working for peace, social justice and abolishing war. For over 35 years, Art has been an organizer, writer and speaker in the faith-based movement for peace, nonviolence and social justice. He has participated in numerous nonviolent actions … has been imprisoned for his involvement in … plowshares actions, as well as for other nonviolent protests … Art’s brother, Paul, was associate director of a homeless shelter in Hartford, Connecticut for ten years before he was murdered by a mentally ill homeless man in 1999. Since his brother’s death, Art has been a member of the Journey of Hope and Murder Victims Families for Human Rights actively campaigning against the death penalty.
