Remembering  Hiroshima and Nagasaki, August 6 – 9, 1945.

On August 6, 1945, the United States dropped the world’s first atomic bomb on the city of Hiroshima, Japan, killing an estimated 150,000 people in the immediate blast and fire. Three days later, on August 9, 1945, more than 75,000 people died in the atomic bombing of Nagasaki, Japan. More than 100,000 people died in the days and years ahead, and continue to die, from the radiation poisoning of the first atomic bombings.

Saturday, August 6, 7:30p.m. Hiroshima Day  Sundown Peace Observance to Abolish Nuclear Weapons.  Market Street Bridge, corner of Market Street and Schuylkill Ave., across from 30th Street Station (east side).

Mourn the nuclear world.

Join us in lighting a candle for peace over the waters below and sounding the bell, calling for nuclear disarmament and an end to war.
