FREE

Trumbo
2015. 124 min. Directed by Jay Roach. Stars Bryan Cranston, Helen Mirren, Elle Fanning, and John Goodman. Rated R for language including some sexual references. Nominated for 10 Academy Awards

In 1947, Dalton Trumbo, among the elite of Hollywood screenwriters, gets caught in the sprawling web of anti-communist interrogation during the McCarthy era. Among his many achievements was Johnny Got His Gun, an antiwar novel. His career crashes down around him when he refuses to compromise his beliefs and rat on his colleagues and instead serves ten months in jail as part of the Hollywood 10.

Trumbo is about a cruel chapter in our nation’s history and of a man who, at great sacrifice to himself and his family, refuses to compromise his freedoms.

“… an important reminder of how democracy can fail and the strength of character it takes to fight the system.” —Variety

“An intensely timely film.  TRUMBO is terrific.” – Newsweek
