FREESUNDAY, MARCH 13 — Brandywine Peace Community Monthly Potluck Supper & Program, 2nd Sunday of the month, at University Lutheran Church, 3637 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104 (corner of 37th & Chestnut St, in the University City section of the city, limited parking in lot at the rear of the church)
4:30p.m. Potluck Supper (bring main dish, salad, or dessert). Program begins at 5:30p.m.
PROGRAM… AFSC’s campaign to stop GOVERNING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF CORPORATE AMERICAN.
For 18 months the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) has been training volunteers to bird-dog the candidates about the overwhelmingly real influence of corporations in shaping US policy highlighting three key issues: the immigrant detention quota, modernization of the Nuclear arsenal, and the for-profit prison industry.
Hear what this work looks likes on the ground as the presidential campaigns roll on.
Speakers:
KENYATTA JAMES, community organizer, environmentalist and volunteer coordinator for the AFSC. He’s provided technical and strategic support for volunteer engagement in the Governing Under the Influence Project. He also supports work on demilitarization, immigrant rights, police brutality and economic justice.
PETER LEMS, a Peace Building Officer at the American Friends Service Committee and co-coordinator of the Governing Under the Influence project.
